The Vortex business is built on the back of experienced executives in the plumbing field. Together, we have experience of over 50 years in the design, manufacture, wholesale, sales, and marketing of plumbing products to the retail industry. This has refined our skills of general management, financial management, marketing, research and development (R&D), sales, and production.

Guarantee

Vortex Taps and Mixers carry a 15-year guarantee against manufacturing faults. The guarantee excludes normal wear and tear of componentry. “Special Finish” products, (ie: any finish other than chrome plating) will carry a 5-year guarantee on the finish. All Vortex accessories (ie: shower roses, shower arms, spouts and hand showers etc) will carry a 5-year guarantee. Our People

Brett Solomon

CEO

Brett is the founder, shareholder and CEO of Vortex Sanitaryware. He enters the business with 22 years of Senior Executive experience in the research and development (R&D), manufacture, supply, sales and marketing of plumbing products to the sub-Saharan African market. Solomon began his work career in the taps and mixers (Faucets) as a newly qualified Mechanical Engineer at Isca. He moved through the ranks of the Isca factory and business to the position of Operations Director.

In this role, he controlled the overall supply chain of the factory — from R&D and procurement, to production and outbound distribution. In 2008, Solomon was appointed as the Managing Director of Isca, where he and his team significantly increased the size of the business during their tenure. In July 2014, Isca and Cobra Watertech business where combined under the company name of Dawn Watertech. Solomon was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Commercial division. In this role he was responsible for all Sales, Marketing and R&D activities for these brands. Solomon held a similar position for the Lixil Africa Group (known then as GroheDawn Watertech), where he had under his care the brands of, Cobra, Isca, Grohe, Libra, Vaal and Plexicor
In October 2016, Solomon left the Lixil group, to open Vortex Sanitaryware, that had the prime objective to wholesale quality plumbing products. Today Vortex owns and has developed the Brand of BluTide Sanitaryware; Developed and supply many of the Lusso Ranges for Massbuild as well as and are the proud agents of McAlpine plumbing products from the UK.

Solomon remains enthusiastic and passionate about plumbing products, innovation and building successful businesses through design and the implementation of functional teams.

Caryn Körner

PROJECT SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR

Caryn is a shareholder and has been appointed as the Project Sales and Marketing Director of the Vortex business. She has worked in sales and marketing management for 25 years.
Starting her career at Isca in 1991, Körner’s focus and specialty were on the marketing and project specification side of the business. Her evolution into the plumbing world was coached and mentored by founder and former owner of Isca, Yigal Jaretzkey.

Through the years, Körner has shown her passion for the industry and, most importantly, for our customers. She prides herself on excellent service delivery! Most recently, she was in charge of sales for Gauteng for a brand in the Grohe Dawn group, and had a large team of sales staff reporting into her.

Körner’s approach simply fits in well with the culture the Vortex business wishes to instil — these attributes forming part of our key pillars of success.

Jason Wolff

RETAIL SALES DIRECTOR

Jason joined Vortex in June 2017 and is a shareholder and a director of the business. Starting his career in 2000, Wolff’s focus was on the retail and wholesale markets, and on developing longstanding relationships with the market around trust and exceptional service delivery. In 2008, he was appointed the Sales Director of Isca and it quickly became clear how his significant contribution led to the exceptional growth in the business.

He has managed large mass-merchant and wholesale relationships in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, and continues to add value in these areas. Most recently, Wolff was responsible for the DIY retail market for all the Grohe Dawn brands, and has an excellent understanding of the DIY retail, showroom retail, and wholesale market segments.

Wolff continues to integrate his knowledge and experience in leading a sales force in our customer-centric organisation.
